Microsoft Commits C$7.5 Billion to Canadian Cloud and AI Infrastructure Expansion
Microsoft is doubling down on its Canadian operations with a C$7.5 billion investment over the next two years, part of a broader C$19 billion commitment through 2027. The tech giant's expansion focuses on Azure cloud infrastructure and AI capabilities, with new datacentre capacity slated for 2026.
The company unveiled a comprehensive digital sovereignty plan, including a Threat Intelligence Hub in Ottawa and in-country data processing for Copilot interactions. Microsoft's Canadian division has already trained 5.7 million learners in AI skills since July 2024, with ambitions to certify 250,000 Canadians by 2026.
